The Heirloom Christmas Stocking
series was created to bring you
select quality Christmas stocking
patterns that exemplify the spirit of
giving and communion with
family and friends.
Filled with your love, these stockings
will add charm and beauty to its
surroundings during the most
treasured time of the year.
In the last few years I tried making several stocking from patterns
that I found online.
And honestly, they were all
epic failures.
Then last year I found a simple
pattern that actually worked
and was a decent size.
That pattern inspired me
to create my own.
Over the past year I have been doing just that
and now offer you the Holiday Home Stocking
which includes 3 versions to spur your creativity.
Caron One Pound and Caron Jumbo yarn
are what is used in the pattern.
But other similar worsted weight yarn
could be substituted.
The stocking size is 7" across the cuff
and about 16" - 17" diagonally from the
tip of the toe to the top of the cuff.
A stocking will probably take about
3 hours to complete.
The difficulty level is rated as
Advanced Beginner - Intermediate due to
stitch decreases, short-rowing, color changes
and front post double crochet stitches
that are above a Beginner Level.
In testing other patterns I found their
heel shaping to be cumbersome and slow.
So I came up with a unique way of
shaping the heel that is quick and easy.
I also used different stitch patterns and
combinations for the stocking body and
cuff then I had seen before.
Oh, just to let you know . .
the color stripes in the body were not planned.
Whether you have ever made a Christmas stocking or not,
