Dry brushing to improve health

This is a great set to get started in dry brushing technique to improve your health.
I like to do it 1 or 2 times a day
and brush towards the heart 6 times in each area.

History of Dry Brushing: Dry brushing is a ritual that has been utilized over the centuries in multiple cultures. The ancient civilizations of Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Turks, Russians, and Native Americans all incorporated body brushing for skin therapy and beauty purposes.

Dry brushing has made a resurgence in modern times thanks to celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Salma Hayek spreading the benefits of the ancient ritual to the masses. Recommendations from celebrities can cost a person hundreds of dollars but dry brushing is inexpensive, easy, and effective!

Why Dry Brush? Dry brushing increases blood circulation. It detoxifies and exfoliates your body, as well as promotes lymphatic drainage. Brushing is a simple technique that can be done in 2 -5 minutes daily or as little as a few times a week depending on one's preference. This quick ritual will have you feeling the benefits both physically and mentally in no time!

Health and Beautification Benefits of Dry Brushing
Skin is our largest organ and requires care just like our other organs. One-third of toxins in the body are excreted through the skin. When the pores are clogged toxins remain trapped in the skin, which can lead to health issues.

● Dry Brushing detoxifies + exfoliates the skin/body
● Dry Brushing encourages collagen production
● Dry Brushing Increases circulation
● Dry Brushing reduces cellulite
● Dry Brushing tightens skin
● Dry Brushing stimulates the Lymphatic System

Cheesecake Mini Delights Recipe

Cheesecake Mini Delight Recipe - makes 2 servings

This is a great recipe when you just want a couple servings
of cheesecake, not a large dessert.
It is every bit as good but makes up fast
and doesn't require a large amount of ingredients.

The Crust is simply:
4 graham crackers (put them in a zip lock baggie and crush with a rolling pin),
a little sugar (2 t.)  and 2 T. melted butter to hold it together.

In a small bowl mix the crackers and sugar, then mix in the butter.
Divide the mix in half and add to 2 ramekins that
have been sprayed with cooking spray.

Press the crumbs to the sides and bottom of the ramekins,
then bake at 350 degrees in a toaster oven or regular oven for 10 minutes.

After that. . . no more baking!

While the crust is cooling, make the filling.

In a small bowl with hand electric mixer:
mix 2 oz. cream cheese that is softened with 2 T. of sour cream.
Then add 1/4 c. powdered sugar. Mix well.
And last, gently fold in 1/2 c. whipped topping and 1/8 t. vanilla extract.

Spoon half of the filling in each ramekin.
Then top with cherry pie filling or other topping.
Let it chill good before serving.

Of course a squirt of whipped cream on top just seems to finish it off!

You can cut the recipe in half and just make one.
But trust me . . you will want 2 even if just for you!

Enjoy!

Oven Baked BBQ Spare Rib Recipe

This is how I grew up enjoying barbeque ribs and it still is my favorite way to make them. Rub a little Liquid Smoke on each side, then top with barbeque sauce of your choice. Mom used Maull's. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes.

This is how they looked straight from the oven. And wow..that smell and taste..Yummy!!!!

Don't forget to scrub up some sweet or Russet potatoes wrap them in foil and cook them at the same time. They will be a great accompaniment to the ribs.

Christmas Stocking - Free Crochet Pattern

CLICK TO PIN THIS TO YOUR PINTEREST

Even though I am a designer and create my own patterns, I enjoy mixing in some items from other designers. Their work often inspires me and teaches me new techniques. The stocking pictured here was crocheted by Patty Kubitzki. The original stocking design and pattern is by Erica Dietz and her full instructions can be found at this LINK.

I found this stocking a delight to make. It works up fast and I really like the size of it; measuring about 13" long and about 7.5" wide at the cuff. The yarn I used was Caron One Pound in White, which I find yields such a classic look. The only other change I made to the pattern was that in the hanging chain loop I used a double strand of yarn. After completing the heel portion my count might have been slightly more than the instructions. But it didn't seem to matter.

If your looking for a Christmas Stocking Pattern, I highly recommend this one. On her link she shows one done in the more traditional colors of Red and White.

Crochet Container Cover Free Pattern

CLICK TO PIN THIS TO YOUR PINTEREST

Upcycle your empty orange juice container and make it into a decorative container for a potted plant or other what nots.

Yarn: Caron One Pound or Caron Simply Soft or similar
Crochet Hook size N and J
Size: 5.25" tall and top opening is 4" square

When I first discovered this stitch pattern I liked it so much I wanted to design something with it. But it comes with a limitation, and that is that it only works when done in the round. So for this application it is perfect!

One other note: I crochet left-handed. When you follow any of my pattern directions, that won't be an issue but the stitches will look reversed.

Wash juice container and remove the labels. If a sticky residue is still remaining, don't worry about it. It will just keep the crochet cover in place. With a marker draw a horizontal line around the container at 5.25" up from the bottom. Cut on the line with exacto knife or scissors.

Beg ch: With J hook, ch 30, join with sl st.
Rnd 1: ch 1, hdc in each ch around. Don't join and don't turn throughout the pattern.

Change to N Hook for the rest of the pattern.
Rnd 2: *(sc, dc) in next st, sk 1 st; rep from * around.

Rnds 3 - 9: rep Rnd 2.

Fasten off with a long tail.

Use a regular 1 hole paper punch and punch holes through the top of the container 3/4" apart. Using the yarn tail, whip stitch sew around the top of the container catching in the top edge of the cover. Go around the top 2 times. Hide end of yarn and fasten off.
