New feature added to Breakout Grid Trader

We have added a new feature to the Breakout Grid Trader. It is called Profit Stop. When set to True (the default) the EA will stop trading after it closes a trade in profit. This new feature is only available to clients that purchase the EA.

S&P Downgrades 9 Euro Zone Countries

Standard & Poor's downgraded the credit ratings of nine euro-zone countries, stripping France and Austria of their coveted triple-A status but not EU paymaster Germany, in a Black Friday the 13th for the troubled single currency area.

"Today's rating actions are primarily driven by our assessment that the policy initiatives that have been taken by European policymakers in recent weeks may be insufficient to fully address ongoing systemic stresses in the euro-zone," the U.S.-based ratings agency said in a statement.

S&P cut the ratings of Italy, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus by two notches and the standings of France, Austria, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia by one notch each.

The move puts highly indebted Italy on the same BBB+ level as Kazakhstan and pushes Portugal into junk status.

It put 14 euro-zone states on negative outlook for a possible further downgrade, including France, Austria, and still triple-A-rated Finland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Germany was the only country to emerge totally unscathed with its triple-A rating and a stable outlook.

S&P downgrades US credit rating from AAA

This is BIG news that the US credit rating was downgraded Friday after the stock market closed. This is the first time ever and I sense the effects will be great. What I heard is that if this should happen..and it has..then the credit rating of hundreds of other big companies will also be down-graded which will be a domino effect negatively impacting the market.

This past week the markets were very volatile and the Dow made a big drop. I think next week will be another big drop..there is also a rate statement (FOMC) by the Fed on Tuesday which is one of the most volatile events of the month.

I just re-vamped a Daily Range Calculator. This will only post information in an indicator window, not the main chart window as to interfere with other data. The values show in full pips, fractional pips are dropped. The UpMove is a value of the difference between the current Low and the Bid. The DownMove is a value of the difference between the current High and the Bid. You may download the MQ4 indicator for free from the Forex Home page - Here.

Using ForexFactory Calendar, DST ended

The US went off daylight savings time this past weekend. This slightly impacts how we pull the data from ForexFactory.com for event filtering.

When I pull ForexFactory econ calendar now I changed the DST setting to DST OFF. I am still selecting the same Time zones as previously to get the correct times for local and FXDD server.

Forex Statements from your Broker - Warning!

This is a heads up message to all traders.

The brokers are required to send daily statements out to traders. It is easy to assume all is OK and not verify balances (or review the statements) but recently a big broker (FXDD) had some 'problems with statements' and they came out with incorrect balances..of course less than what the MT4 platform showed.

Bottom line..please be sure to look at those statements if you can twice a week to verify the balance matches your MT4 platform balance. There should not be a difference. If so, contact your broker immediately and demand they correct it.

Forex EA Review Sites - Pros and Cons

Many Forex traders count on the Forex Software review sites to determine if a specific system or Expert Advisor is worth buying. Unfortunately the reviews on some of the sites are tainted and Forex Traders using these sites should be aware of what could be going on behind the scenes.

Being one that is offering systems and EAs for sale, we are occasionally contacted by those stating they have a review site and asking us to provide them with free software to test. Here is how I usually reply to such requests:

We don't offer free product for those wanting to test or consider promoting our products. We do offer referral fees to clients, but not 'affiliate sales'. Our EAs are not on Plimus, ClickBank or other similar service. PipMania does have a link to the live data feed, so potential buyers should be ok with that..other than they might trust a review site over our testing. One of the main concerns about other people testing our EAs, especially if they are just given the EA, is that they likely won't read the entire guide and follow the recommended trading rules. Though there are some runs that can be set up to run non-stop, we found the best success comes with filtering events. Most of our EAs work that way. Clients are advised to review the upcoming news for the week each weekend to determine the trade times for the EA. PipMania can be set up at the beginning of the week and left to run non-stop. Paradise and Trumpeter can also be set up that way. But many testers, typically don't want to fuss with this so they will likely not have as good of results which could possibly give the EAs a poor review.

We are here to work with clients to give them any assistance they require to get them seeing consistent success. Because we don't do affiliate sales, so to speak, our client base is small and it allows us to give better service. Most clients only need help in the beginning, or prior to purchase.

FIFO Brokers - EA changes

Due to the brokers that are adhering to the FIFO (First In First Out) rule we have coded an option feature in the Paradise and Trumpeter EAs so the client can choose to have the EA close trades on that basis. We also added the new Reassessment feature to the Paradise EA, which we had recently added to the Trumpeter EA. Clients needing an updated version should contact us and it will be sent at no additional charge.

The Paradise Guide and xls file have also been updated inside the special Private Client area.

Trump2G New Version released

It has been over 6 months since the last revision to this EA but we found a recovery method for when the EA gets caught in a bigger move which we coded in the new version. In back testing this new feature works for most instances but it is still recommended to do the weekly event filtering. Details of the changes for clients are posted on the Trade Call page. The new version is Trump2G5.

New Tax Is Effective In December
MISSION, Kansas -- (Mission is a suburb in the greater Kansas City area)

Mission has adopted a new tax that will charge fees based on how much traffic specific properties generate.

The Mission City Council on Wednesday adopted a "driveway tax" as a way to raise revenue for road repairs in the Kansas City suburb.

Under the new program, every homeowner will be charged $72 a year and small businesses will pay $3,558 a year, beginning in December.

Larger businesses will pay more. For example, a Target store will pay up to $64,750 annually.

Mission officials previously said homeowners would be charged on average about $72.

City officials say the fee is expected to raise $1.2 million a year to help finance $38 million in road improvements during the next 10 years. It will also be used to fund a new express bus service between Overland Park and the Country Club Plaza.

City Administrator Mike Scanlon has said that the tax is fair and justified. He said the tax has been successfully imposed in other states.

FOMC Interest Rate Expectations

The ISM manufacturing report for July showed that the sector slowed from 56.2 to 55.5 but surpassed expectations of 54.5. As look at the breakdown revealed that orders and production were slowing with inventories building, signs that the sector is headed for a slowdown. A slight pickup in hiring was the bright spot but not enough of an improvement to impact this week’s employment report which is forecasted to show the economy lost 63,000 jobs in July with the unemployment rate rising to 9.6% from 9.5%. The lack of job growth has dim the outlook for future growth and continues to weigh on interest rate expectations with fed funds futures now only giving a 3.9% chance of a rate hike in November.

Is News Relevant in Forex Automated Trading?

News absolutely does impact the currency market movement. Nearly all of the EAs (auto-trading robots) we create at http://www.SecretsFromTheHeart.com are meant to be turned on and off according to different news events of the week but it's easy to figure this out. Though ForexFactory.com does list most events, there are some they don't, such as Options Expiration; an event that happens every 3rd Thursday and Friday each month and typically dramatically moves the market.

Through over 5 years experience in trading the Forex, I've determined that it's best to not try to trade the most volatile news such as FOMC rate statements and NFP (non-farm payroll) at the release due to broker slippage and re-quotes. But we did create an EA called FX News Raider to trade NFP news with success but not the immediate release. This EA can also be used with other news releases to profit in Forex trading. Opportunities are usually at least a couple of times each week. Go to http://www.secretsfromtheheart.com/fxnewsraider.htm to learn more.

One of the things to look at when studying history of the market movement after a news release is the 'duration of move'. An event such as FOMC may only last 10 minutes, where other events may last hours, depending on the currency pair traded.

It's also important to keep up with current news just in case a surprise event happens.

My guess is that this stock is still in its infancy with much more notice coming when products arrive in the stores and they in turn start advertising them.

As with any stock, movement is not in a straight line. Yet higher highs and higher lows indicate direction.

Mark McRea (creator of Traders Secret Library) touches on a subject that most seasoned traders know, and rookie traders don’t want to hear…most traders fail and a percentage of those failures turn into bankruptcy!

I was thinking about an article I read some time ago that 90% of traders who ever trade lose their account and that 10% actually go bankrupt. If the first number doesn’t scare you then the second definitely should.

Why is it then that there is such a large number of traders failing? It is not because they are stupid; in fact most traders have an above average IQ and are above average in most categories such as education and income. So why do they fail?

Lack of trading education! ( INO TV will help solve this problem!)

By education I don’t just mean learning how RSI works or drawing lines on a chart. I mean thoroughly educating yourself in all aspects of your chosen profession.

Educating yourself on the correct psychological approach to the market! Educating yourself in the correct risk management techniques relative to your account size. Educating yourself in the correct entry and exit methods for the trading style that suits you.

This, my friend, is where I hope to be of some help. I don’t have all the answers nor do I profess to be some kind of guru but I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

Common Misconceptions Of New Traders

*They think they can trade consistently with an 80% accuracy.
*They think they can turn $1000 into $100,000 in six months.
*They think they can predict turning points in their given markets to within minutes.
*They think they can buy a system that is 100% accurate.
*They think they will quit their jobs and make a living full time after a few months of trading.

What’s the reason that so many new traders believe that trading is an easy way to make big profits? Propaganda!

We are continually bombarded in magazines, emails and the general media with claims of making astronomical amounts, just by applying the vendor’s latest method or system.

Don’t get me wrong, there is good stuff out there but the vast majority is not worth the price you pay. In Traders Secret Library I also recommend products but I have at least read the ebooks or courses and think they have some value to my subscribers.

Fundamentals Of Trading

Trading is not an exact science. You can’t do X and get Y every time. It is as much an art as it is anything else. There is no magic formula. Trading is all about probability. It is the art of correctly applying a set of carefully thought out rules and allocating the probability of that event to result in success.

Each trade is an independent event. The market does not remember if you lost or made dollars the last time you traded.

The way you approach the market psychologically has as much to do with your success as any trading plan.

Risk management is crucial if you want to have any hope of becoming a successful trader.

Matching a method of trading with your personality is the only way you will ever feel comfortable in the markets.

An adequately funded account is necessary - not only to be able to take the trades you want, but also so you don’t feel every trade is a live or die situation.

The journey to the road of successful trading will make you confront your deepest fears. Your armor on this journey will be confidence, knowledge and belief in yourself that you can achieve your dreams.

Never, equate your success or failure in the markets with who you are as a person!

The Flaw In Our Emotions

As humans we have a natural tendency to try and influence our surroundings and events we take part in. This is one reason we, as a species, have succeeded but it is also one of the fundamental flaws we all have when trying to achieve success as a traders.

As traders we have to realize we have no control over the market and if we accept that then we have to accept that we can not influence the direction of the market.

The problem of course is we have a tendency to try and succeed and when inevitable losses come, it is easy to let those losses effect us emotionally. Becoming euphoric when you hit a winning streak is almost as detrimental as becoming depressed when you have a string of losses.

We as traders have to try and achieve the state of impartiality. We have to accept that we will have losses as readily as we will have wins. Reaching the stage where you can comfortably accept loss in the knowledge that your method of trading will produce profits in the longer term is the state we have to aspire to.

Risk Management

Whenever I think of risk management I always think of an article I read on 925 CTA programs between 1974-1995. It essentially confirmed what I have long held to be true. To summarize the report, of all the CTA’s who managed funds, the most consistently profitable were the ones with the best risk management systems.

To trade successfully you have to take a long look at yourself. Ask and answer the following questions.

How much equity do I need to start? How much should I risk on any one trade? Am I undercapitalized?

During the course of these lessons I will do my best to help answer these and other questions.

Entry And Exit

As a trader you will probably fall into two main categories, traders who like to trade the breakout and traders who like to join the trend once established. We could also add congestion traders, reversal type traders and mechanical signal traders but for the vast majority of traders you are going to fall into one of the two categories.

If you are a trend trader, you like to define a trend and then find a way in. This may be with the aid of fibonacci retracement levels, moving averages, Gann or one of the other many indicators available today. Your goal is to enter the trend as early as possible with the least amount of risk.

Breakout traders like to enter the market on the breakout of a previously identified range. This may be support/resistance areas, rectangles, triangles or one of the many other chart patterns. The secret to this type of trading is to determine a valid break.

In future lessons we shall begin to look at the more technical side of trading and how you can apply technical analysis to the markets to increase your probability of success.

Conclusion

During this lesson I have tried to give you a glimpse into the world of trading. I have also taken a slightly negative stance, as I don’t want you to get unrealistic expectations of what to expect.

On the more positive side, trading is a fascinating world, which will allow you to really exercise your brain. There is no other arena where you get to play with some of the best minds in the world on a level playing field.

Once mastered, if you can ever use that term then the possibilities are endless. Hopefully I can help you achieve your goals.

Huge oil finds in USA – but untapped – WHY?

The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April ('08) that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since '95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota; western South Dakota; and extreme eastern Montana ....... check THIS out:

1. The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable, at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

'When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.' says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyst.

'This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years, reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It's a formation known as the Williston Basin, but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.' And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada . For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves... and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight.

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this mother-load of oil why are we still fighting over offshore drilling?

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

> 8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
> 18 times as much oil as Iraq
> 21 times as much oil as Kuwait
> 22 times as much oil as Iran
> 500 times as much oil as Yemen
and it's all right here in the Western United States ...

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy....WHY?

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East - more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

As much as investors would like to see things turn around, the data and conditions still support the bear market. This will likely be a week of high volatility due to end of month and ISM and non-farm payroll data hitting.

Typically we see a 'Santa Claus' rally in the markets close to the holiday. We'll see if this year repeats or not.

Index Daily Ranges in extremes

Below are screen captures of the DOW and some of the main currency pairs showing clearly how the daily ranges have way exceeded their 'typical' bounds. Due to these huge swings, trading strategies and settings must be altered until once again the indexes return to a more 'normal' pattern. (DOW is a 4 Hour chart, the others are Daily timeframes.)
These charts were created using the MetaTrader 4 platform, the Average True Range indicator with a period of 3 and applied Simple Moving Average with a period of 12.
